#IBTHEBOSS

Now that you have finished your first official year of IB, reflect back on what you have learned; not only academically but as a person as well. What is your favorite part of IB? Your least favorite? How do feel the program is making you a better person and preparing you for the future? Your thoughts.

Now that the first year of IB is just about complete I feel that it was not as bad as I felt it was throughout the school year. This year was a struggle for me. I learned that due dates, not procrastinating and asking questions are very important. As many times as I wanted to give up or for me to say that I don't think I can finish I am happy that I did stay because there are many of plenty of people who did not. My favorite part of IB is our ability to be open minded in different areas...I love when we have our class discussions and debates. My least favorite part of IB was the IA's however I did enjoy doing the IOP and I felt that I should have got a better score than I got. I also like the new addition of managebac even though it gets bothersome at times.

  2. My favorite part of IB was knowing that I will get a lot of college credit for all of this that I am doing. Procrastinating-even though I still do it, I know it really..yeah affects your grade. IA's and my IOP were not too good in my opinion. I did not like math, or history this year. I did love psychology, and I liked science. Managebac is really useful. I loved doing Soccer this year, it was really fun, and I like that it goes with CAS. The program is shaping us to be prepaired for hard-work, and difficult tasks.

  3. Wow we are almost done! Most important lesson that we never listen to 'Never procrastinate'. Other wise I think IB has given us an sense of who we are. We are original and we always make it fun. We help each other when we are having trouble. I think we've become better people. More mature. Favorite part of IB... Less exams this year? I also like that we are going to do so much stuff next year. =)Least favorite has to be the amount of work. 'Cause I would always see Facebook statuses about regular kids saying how they are angry because they have to study for exams. When IB kids not only have exams (maybe not as many but)our work still continues. I think the program has made us realize the real world more. There is more planning and concentration that is needed. However we learned that we need something to make us smile and keep us even a tiny bit happy to work effectively.

My favorite part of IB would have to be the fact that I am able to have the same teacher every year. These same teachers already know my strengths and my weaknesses so the grading tends to be easier. The greatest thing IB taught me is to maintain an open mind in terms of religion, social differences, and cultural differences. And it taught me how to become more aware of the world and of my plans after high school and college. Also, IB is helping me get over my intense fear of public speaking. My least favorite thing about IB would have to be the difficulty of the biology course during the first semester. We had back to back IA's with horrible grades to show for the hard work. It was very disheartening. Also, seeing the same exact people every day could get annoying. But overall, the Lake Weir High School IB program is amazing and I do not regret joining.

My favorite part of IB is that you have multiple chances to get credit not just one test in may. Also i like that they want you to pass and they dont make it too difficult. Also that some portions your teacher grades, the techer knows us and our work abilities. My least favorite is the oral presentations we have to do. The program is the gradual step between high school and college and we are learning better study habbits and techniques that prepare us for college. Because of IB we have a better chance of excelling in college and bcoming what we want to be.

This year has been one that I won't ever forget. I'm so glad that we all stuck through the program and have grown together as a fammily. We all have learned valuable lessons such as "Never use sparknotes or site it", "Don't procrastinate", "Always back it up" and lastly "always refrence spongebob." My favorite part of IB is having a group of people understand certain things about kmnowledge and that we can dicuss about without agurments and things like that. Least favorite part is aguring with people in the class, we are a family and it makes me sad. This program is really amazing and i feel that its going to help me a lot later in life. Its shown me how to deal with people and what to and not to do in college. I'm so glas we all have done this together and cant wait to experience senior year with all of you. (:

  7. This year has truly beeen a year full of ups and downs for me. At first I looked at all these kids wondering "Why the fuck am I still in this? Me and these people have nothing in common." But as the year moved on I seen that we are all connected somehow. Maybe through our sense of humor, intelligence, strengths, weaknesses, and differences. Although these many differences truly made us want to talk to each other more just to see each others mindsets. This showed me never judge a book by it's cover because honestly I would stick up for any of my family members(Ib peers in my class). I wil miss them over the summer and greet them with open arms next year.

My favorite part of IB was the fact that i raised the bar from not state standards, not even country standards, but to international standards. The entire reason i joined IB was for college. I know this is going to help me get what i want in the future. Also, it has turned me into the god of procrastinating, BS'ing bastards which is going to help me in the future x) My least favorite part of IB is the multitude of projects that are given to us one after the other. There wasn't a single length of time we had that we could just relax- it was always stressful due to a project due.

My favorite part of IB is how we have all become so closely knit throughout the year. I think its so cool how everyone in a class can hang out together and have fun, you can't do that in a regular class. My least favorite part would have to be the biology IA's. Those were the hardest things that we had to do all year. I really feel like the IB program is securing my future, and is opening my eyes to enable me to see things from different perspectives.

It's so unbelievable that we're going to be IB seniors next year. Throughout all the hard work (MY LEAST FAVORITE PART) and effort, we made it. The only other thing that always pissed me off was being compared to the other class. There was a time that we were all together and mixed into our classes, we're all the same people. They just have a different math class than we do. The fact that we're separated brings a bias to our teachers and they LOOK for better work produced from them so they can confirm the fact that they're better than us at some things. It doesn't matter though, I know our teachers like us all the same. Our IB class has basically disintegrated since 9th grade and I'm happy to be left with the people that we are. Our class is so close, we literally are like some kind of weird family. I love everyone else too, but I'm really happy to be in the class that we are. We're all so weird and we accept each other. It's nice to be able to be my weird self around you idiots. I'm also happy to be able to say that I'm in the IB program. Like Keith said, we've raised the bar to international standards. CAS may be a pain in the butt, but it can really humble you and make you a better, more down-to-earth person. This year has really taught me not to procrastinate. I know I will probably do it again next year, but it will NOT be as bad as I have been doing. I am really excited for next year.

It is really hard to believe that we are so close to finishing IB, and both classes have learned so much. We have dealt with all the assignments together, and really stepped up and got through it all. All the IAs, presentations, outlines, essays, and study guides were all long, boring, hard, and took up a lot of weekends, we did learn a lot from it. I feel prepared for next year, and hopefully we will procrastinate a little less. Doing all of the CAS will also get us to do activities together, and let us tolerate each other for another year without fighting too much...It all was unbearable in the beginning, but now we have all realized that we are in the program for a reason. We raised the bar for ourselves, and become harder workers for it, and hopefully will allow us to be one step ahead in college. My favorite part was going through all the IB crap together, and learning how to cope with it, and having "bonding days".

I find it hard to believe we're almost done with not only high school but IB too. With so many parts of IB that we've yet to accomplish and the things we have to accomplish give me a sort of bitter sweet feeling. My favorite part of IB is having a family not only in your own home but at school as well. We love each other and spend time with each other alot, we might not always get along but we're still as similar to a real family as you can get. My least favorite part of IB is the ridicule that some of the other students give us about wasting our time even though we know we're not. I can only take so much ignorance from other students and usually come close to pointing out how wrong they are in a not so nice way. I feel like this program is preparing me for not only the academics of college but with my job that I will need to get and with the acceptance of other people. In IB we have different religions, races, and sexualities yet none of us discriminate against someone for that. It's helping me notice that things aren't always going to be a couple white kids in a classroom but a mass mixture of different people through out my life that are going to influence me. I can't wait to finish IB but in a way I'm going to miss it but soon I'll have college and I feel like I am prepared for that next step.

My favorite part of IB is probably the CAS activities that we have done so far. Not the documenting part, but the actual activities. Planning them was sometimes stressful and hectic but they were always fun and they always bring us closer together. My least favorite part of IB are the IOP's, the inconsistency of directions and due dates, and the confusion of grades. The program makes me a better person because I am more accepting to a lot of things that most people would not be acceptable about. I have a more creative, diverse, and sophisticated mind also. I am grateful for the program though because I feel like when I go off to college It'll be just like high school (the workload). But if I fail Spanish I'm dropping out.

One of my favorite part of IB is that we are all kind of like a family. I like that we can plan stuff together and do stuff have fun outside of school.I also like how all of our classes tie onto each other. It makes easier to apply them to school work and life. I also like that we learn stuff not just to pass a test but also stuff we can use in the real world. I hate all the IAs, IOPs, IOCs, LOMOPs we do. I feel like once we finish one project we have another one due right after. But all of that taught me to use my time wisely and NOT PROCRASTINATE. I also hate how the classes are divided. We are all in the same program but we're like two different entities. It sometimes feels like we're being pinned against each other rather than learning to work together. However the program is teaching me to coop with others better and collaborate in groups. (learning not to be a social loafer). I'm also learning how to be patient with others students(and band directors). In all I'm learning things that will help me get through college and real life with out killing anyone because I disagree with them.

  15. I like the fact that in ib most of my college will be done. Cas is annoying but it helps shape who we are as individuals and it seperates us from those who only care for themselves whereas we as ib kids care for others. We are like a family when it comes down to it we help and care for each other no matter what we may say. I also dislike the class separation an I believe we should all be together that way it's not all confusing and what not. ~Brandon Bernard
