The List

I am putting the finishing touches on the list of films all IB students need to see. I will have it up in time for winter vacation so you can watch when you have the time.Some made the list because they are masterpieces in film making. Some because of their amazing storylines and other because of characters you never forget. A few are also thrown in for ridiculous fun. Before I upload the final list, what films do you think need to be added? Are there any that have stood out to you? That for one reason or another you can watch over and over and never get tired of? Give me your suggestions and explain why. (I am just warning you now, do not bother suggesting any Twilight crap, they will not be included)

    I'm not going to lie Brooklyn's Finest, Street Kings, 7 pounds, and the Pianist to name a few are some of the greatest movies to me. Brooklyn's Finest showed me how real life can give you any amount of choices and then in the same breath deal you the consequence good or bad. Street Kings showed me how corrupt people can be to get us and how everyone has a secret plan for us no matter the person and how so many good actors were in there such as Common, Keanu Reeves,Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Naomie Harris, Jay Mohr, John Corbett, Cedric the Entertainer, Amaury Nolasco, Terry Crews. 7 Pounds with will smith showing how any man or woman can get redemption and we may not be public about it but within ourselves we see it and how when we stop looking out for ourselves and look out for other people the true beauty of the person we can see. The Pianist was something I can't explain, but was amazing. Also a Jamaican movie called Shottas but I don't think IB would allow that one lmao;

    The one movie that immediately came to mind when reading this blog topic was Pay It Forward. If you have not seen it, it's about a little boy who thinks he can make the world a better place by doing one good thing for someone and then that will as he see's it prompt someone else to do the same. He starts by letting a homeless man live in his house, and tells his mother it's part of his assignment for school and I'm going to leave it at that for those who have not seen it. It's a funny, sad, and emotionally uplifting movie it shows that one person no matter how small can make a difference. If it's not already on the list it should be. Oh, and I'm blogging this late because I can't sleep.

    For Mickale, Shottas has nothing to do with IB, it just shows drug associations in Jamaica and the US. I feel The Prestige is a really good movie that makes you think. It's like a huge mystery that involves a bunch of magic and stuff. It's hard to explain but it's really good and you find out something new every time you watch it. 7 Pounds is okay I guess. I can't think of any others, but if I do I'm going to re-blog.

    I'm also not into movies like that. However, the Pursuit of Happiness is one of my favorite films. It deserves to be on the IB list because of it's moral values. It teaches that even in the midst of intense diversity, peace is still attainable and is a mental state not a physical one.

    Seven Pounds should definitely be added to the list! But, I'm into movies like Gone With the Wind, but I'm sure no one will watch that! But, I agree with Tori. The Pursuit of Happiness is such an amazing movie! That also should be on the list!

  7. I watch tons of movies. Well I have tons of movies... But I can't ever watch them more than once. I really liked Super 8 the way they hid everything in the trailer and in the movie until like the middle. Um The Road was very good. It kind of makes you wonder what you would do in the guys situation. The Next Three Days and Law Abiding Citizen were kinda the same concept but good movies. Limitless was really cool with the pill that makes you really smart... Hanna kept me confused for a while. Remember me even though I don't really like Patz the movie shocked me at the end. Inkheart and Red Riding Hood were cute movies. Then Push and Knowing were both crazy. ANY MOVIE WITH WILL SMITH!!(MIB xD) Uh I could go on forever.... But Star Wars, Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, Twilight please don't put them on the list >_< Oh does this list have to be like school appropriate?

    I don't watch movies all the time like some people do, but the movies I do watch are usually fictional or are full of rediculous action. I like watching movies that make you think about. Take Inception for example; most people didn't like it, but only for the reason that they didn't understand it. For those who didn't hate it and watched it again to fully understand it, congratulations. Movies that make you think about what was real, what was fake, and what never actually happened should be added to the list

    I think that the movies 7 pounds is an awesome movie because of how sincere it is, and how sad it turns out to be. I also agree with brianna on the movie triangle because it is sooo weird and does not go by the laws of nature, but at the end it all makes sense and is pretty cool.

    My all time favorite movie would have to be Inseption. I couls watch that movie over and over in any demension. The whole movie made you wonder if it was real life or just a dream. And the ending was the best, you never know if they make it out of the dream world. When i left the theater i had to wonder if I was living in reality or a dream. I hope this isn't one of the movies hollywood ruines with a sequel. I likes the harry potter movies but i'll never reqd the stories because that will just ruine the movie for me. The Narnia movies were great but they made me cry.

    I really like all of the movies listed on here. Especially 7 Pounds and Inception. In 7 pounds you can actually feel his pain and regret. Inception is just mind blowing. Its a movie where you have to pay attention to every detail. and everytime I watch it, i find something new. Some other movies that I love are The Terminator movies,Pirates of the Caribbean, War of the Worlds, The Dark Knight, Jurassic Park, E.T, and The Butterfly Effect.

  14. A BEAUTIFUL MIND! One of the best movies I've ever seen. My mom forced me to sit down with her and watch it one day and I really really liked it. It leaves you with the 'wtf' moment and it's just great. AH.
    Good Will Hunting is also an amazing movie, and it could apply to IB students as like a motivator to go far in life, and to be proud of what we can all do.
    There's this other movie that's so good, and it's killing me that I can't think of it right now, and oh yea Marlena wants me to put Donnie Brasco with Johnny Depp, Goodfellas (everybody just needs to watch that on their own time) and Fight Club cause it has postmodernism. That is all.

  15. Two inspirational movies that I would like to see is The Blind Side and The Book O Eli because in both movies the main Character works through the heard times and succeed while one for fun was Robots and as Marlena said The Departed wad Beast.-Jamaal Roberson

    Remember the Titans. It is an inspirational movie about what can happen when people put aside their differences and try and get to know someone as a person.
